Kolya Manufacturing S.C. – a locally owned disc manufacturing plant starts operation by replicating – ‘Ethiopia’, the long awaited music album of Ethiopia’s pop star, Teddy Afro.
According to Mr. Yared Ademe, General Manager of Kolya Manufacturing Share Company, it took a great deal of negotiation to convince the producers of the Artist to do the printing of the album in Ethiopia.
Mr. Yared thanks the Artist and its producers for finally putting trust in Kolya in its first ever operation. He says, “We were confident and we delivered up to the expectations. Our confidence stems from our sense of purpose, the machines we possess and the expertise and experience of our human power.”
Mr. Yared adds, “We are here to support the edutainment sector.” We want record labels, film producers, and others in the sector to have fewer worries regarding the quality and affordability of the physical media needs.”
Despite the large population size and a big potential Ethiopia has in the music and film industry, the country only has one disc duplication and replication factory which is owned by foreign investors. The needs of the market are met by imported products which often suffer from lack of quality. In light of this, Kolya’s introduction to the market has a big relevance.
“Teddy Afro’s album, Ethiopia is a big success. We managed to replicate 500,000 copies, record in the country’s music history, in only twenty days. This is a testimony to the capability of our machines and quality of service we provide. We are expecting a reprint. Other projects are also in-line tells Mr. Yared.
Kolya is a firm owned by local investors established in 2014 G.C. The factory is situated in the industrial town of Dukem, in Oromia Region, 38 km south of Addis Ababa. Kolya has created job opportunities for 150 persons on a permanent and temporary basis.
